Established Clients

You Don't Need Weekly Therapy Forever—But Life Still Happens

You've done the work. You've resolved the trauma or addressed what brought you to therapy. You're in a good place.

But life has ups and downs.

Job changes. Relationship challenges. Unexpected losses. New stressors. Times when you need someone who already knows your story, understands your history, and can help you navigate what's happening—without starting from scratch with a new provider.

That's what maintenance support is for.

What Is Maintenance Support?

An established professional relationship you can return to when life challenges arise—without the commitment or expectation of weekly therapy.

Think of it as having a trusted provider on standby. Someone who:

  • Already knows your history and patterns
  • Understands what you've worked through
  • Can help you navigate new challenges quickly
  • Is available when you need support, not on a rigid schedule
  • No "Wait List"

This is for:

  • Clients that completed the MR Intensive
  • Former therapy clients who completed treatment
  • High-performers who want and need periodic check-ins
  • Anyone who values having an established relationship for when life gets hard
  • Anyone who values accountability

How It Works

No Set Schedule

You're not committing to weekly or monthly sessions. You reach out when you need support.

Common patterns:

  • Check in every 2-3 months to stay grounded
  • Come in during major life transitions (job change, relationship shift, loss)
  • Schedule a session when you identify patterns that may concern you
  • Touch base after a difficult incident or unexpected stressor ("trigger")

Quick Access

Because we already have an established relationship, we can jump right into what's happening—no lengthy intake, no explaining your entire history, no need to "build rapport."

You already have:

  • An established therapeutic relationship
  • My understanding of your background and patterns
  • Trust and rapport built from our previous work together
  • Access to someone who knows what approaches work for you

Flexible Delivery

  • In-person (Chapel Hill, NC or South Carolina locations)
  • Telehealth (throughout NC and SC)
  • Extended sessions available if needed (90 minutes instead of standard 53 minutes)

Who This Is For

MR Intensive Graduates

You completed the 6-session Adaptive Resolution Protocol and resolved your traumatic memories. Most of the time, you're doing great. But when stress hits or life throws a curveball, you want someone who already understands your nervous system patterns and can help you stay regulated.

Former Therapy Clients

You finished treatment and no longer need weekly sessions. But you value having a provider you can return to during difficult seasons—someone who knows your story and can help you maintain the progress you've made.

High-Performing Professionals

You're generally very capable of handling life's challenges. But you recognize the value of having an established mental health professional you can check in with periodically—not because you're "broken," but because you're smart enough to maintain your mental health proactively.

First Responders & Healthcare Workers

Your job involves exposure to ongoing stress and critical incidents. You don't need weekly therapy, but you want someone familiar with your role who you can debrief with after particularly difficult calls or patient encounters.

What Maintenance Sessions Look Like

Unlike ongoing therapy, maintenance sessions are targeted and practical:

You come in with a specific concern:

  • "I'm dealing with a difficult work situation and need to process it"
  • "I had a triggering experience and want to make sure I don't slide backward"
  • "I'm facing a major decision and want to talk through it"
  • "Things are actually going well—I just want a check-in to make sure I'm staying on track"

We address it directly:

  • Draw on what we already know about your patterns
  • Use tools and approaches that have worked for you before
  • Create a practical plan for handling the current situation
  • Identify any warning signs to watch for

You leave with clarity:

  • Specific strategies for the situation you're facing
  • Renewed sense of being settled and grounded
  • Confidence that you can handle what's ahead
  • Plan for when/if you need another session

Why This Model Works

No Scrambling During Crisis

When life gets hard, you're not desperately searching for an available therapist, wondering if they will be a good fit, and spending weeks building rapport before you can actually address what's wrong.

You already have someone. No Wait List.

Maintains Continuity of Care

I'm familiar with your history, your nervous system patterns, what you've worked through, and what approaches are effective for you. We can be productive from the very first minute of the session.

Prevents Backsliding

Sometimes all you need is a check-in to catch old patterns before they become problems again. Maintenance sessions help you stay ahead of issues rather than waiting until you're in crisis.

Cost-Effective

You're not paying for weekly therapy you don't need. You're investing in sessions when they're actually valuable to you.

Removes Stigma

This isn't "being in therapy." This is being smart about your mental health and wellness. High-performers in every field have coaches, mentors, and advisors. This is your mental health advisor.

The Investment

Alumni/Maintenance Rate: $200/session (90 minutes)

This reduced rate reflects:

  • The ongoing relationship we've established
  • Your commitment to maintaining your mental health
  • The value I place on supporting clients long-term

Extended sessions available:

  • 105-120 minute maintenance session: $250

Payment: Self-pay only. Not insurance-billable (since you're not in active ongoing treatment and session length extends regular insurance allowable times).

What This Is NOT

This is not ongoing weekly therapy. If you need consistent weekly support, standard psychotherapy is a better fit.

This is not crisis intervention. If you're in acute crisis, you need more intensive support than occasional check-ins can provide. If something is happening, we can address it in Maintenance session, where I can provide recommendations, which may include beginning psychotherapy and a corresponding treatment plan

This is not a replacement for active treatment. If new issues arise that require focused therapeutic work, we'd transition you back to regular therapy or refer you to appropriate care.

This IS:

  • Periodic support for life's challenges
  • Preventive mental health maintenance and wellness
  • Continuation of our established relationship
  • Access to someone who knows your story

Common Questions

How often should I come in for maintenance sessions?

There's no "should." Some clients check every 2-3 months. Others go 6-12 months between sessions. It depends entirely on what's happening in your life and what you need.

What if I need to come back to weekly therapy?

That's fine. If a new issue arises that requires focused treatment, we can transition you back to regular therapy sessions. Your care adapts to your needs.

Can I use insurance for maintenance sessions?

No. Since you're not in active ongoing treatment, these sessions are self-pay only. However, the reduced rate ($185 vs. $235) reflects this.

What if it's been years since I last saw you?

Even if it's been a while, we can pick up where we left off, unless major issues are present. I maintain clinical records that help me remember your history and what we worked on together.

Do I need to schedule regular appointments to maintain the relationship?

No. You can reach out when you need support. I keep availability for established clients, though scheduling in advance is always helpful.

What if I'm not sure if I need a session?

When in doubt, please feel free to reach out. We can have a brief phone conversation to determine if a session would be valuable or if you're handling things well on your own.

The Philosophy Behind Maintenance Support

I don't build my practice on keeping people dependent on therapy.

My goal has always been to help you resolve what's holding you back and equip you to live your life. But I also recognize that having an established relationship with a mental health professional is valuable—not because you need constant support, but because life is unpredictable.

This model honors both:

  • Your autonomy and capability to handle most of life on your own
  • The reality that everyone occasionally needs support from someone who knows them

You completed the work. This just ensures you have someone in your corner when life gets challenging again.

Final Thoughts

Life Will Challenge You Again!

That's not pessimism—it's reality.

Jobs change. Relationships shift. Loss happens. Stress accumulates.

The question is: Will you face it alone, or will you have someone who already knows your story?

Maintenance support ensures you're never starting from scratch when life gets hard.
