Trauma is the result of distressing or recurrent distressing experience(s)/event(s) that produce an overwhelming negative response. The response may be emotional or physical, and it can be more than an individual can cope with. Trauma can cause a person to re-experience significant emotional distress and other psychological, behavioral, physical health, and/or day-to-day problems. Living this way is simply debilitating and discouraging and living a fulfilling and peaceful life seems unattainable. Unresolved trauma can disrupt a person’s life through nightmares, anxiety, flashbacks, anger, fear, addiction, panic attacks, shame, blame, guilt, disrupted relationships, physical health problems, moral injury, existential, and spiritual issues. Trying to move forward in life without resolving trauma is simply not possible.
